Purple Door Radio was created in the fall of 2007 to provide a more relevant music experience for the next generation. You can listen to PDR live every Sunday night on FM 90.3 WJTL or 24/7 online
I grew up going to the Purple Door Festival with my brother and cousins. I was usually the only girl in a group of twenty-some guys but that didn't stop me from moshing and joining in on the usual crazy antics that make up Purple Door. Thousand Foot Krutch and Project86 were early favorites of mine and the list has now grown to include House of Heroes, Skillet, John Mark McMillan, I Am Terrified, The Glorious Unseen and Deas Vail to name a few. I wanted to be in radio since my freshman year of high school and I count myself extremely blessed to now be living out my dream.
I never actually heard about the Purple Door Festival until I was a Senior in High School. Being from the boondocks of York County we never really even had a clear signal to WJTL but after attending PD for two years I decided to get involved and became a WJTL/Purple Door Festival Intern. It must have been a great summer because 5 years later I’m still here! Now I’m doing what I’ve wanted to do almost my whole life, be a DJ and being part of the creation of Purple Door Radio. Working with Brian and Ashlea and listening to great music every week certainly doesn’t seem like a bad gig either!
I've been around the music scene for a while. I started out playing in a rock band called Far and Fading back in 1998. At the time I did not know much about Christian music, I had no idea there were so many bands that played the music I enjoyed. I really got into Project 86, POD, Blindside, Zao, almost all the ska music out there, and some of the punk (mxpx and philmore). As I became more and more involved in music I decided that this is somthing I could see myself involved in for a long time. After high school I went to Millersville University for business and Lancaster Bible College for a bible degree, all the while playing out most weekends with my band. In 2005 I started interning at WJTL to get credits toward college. I really enjoyed the staff and shortly after my internship ended I started working as a part time DJ. In 2006 I started promoting shows all over Lancaster County, I found this to be something I enjoyed even more than playing in a band. In 2007 I started doing most of my concerts at Manheim BIC Church and created the Warehouse 54. Currently I work at Manheim BIC Church as the Technical Director, run the Warehouse 54 concert ministry, and am co-host of PDR! |
